Our Beloved Eto

Yesterday was a sad day, Eto the family cat, who really belongs to my mom and dad but we all claim passed away. I know it may be crazy to post a tribute to a cat but Ito has been a part of every one's life. He was the most gentle and loving cat. No matter what those cute little children did to him he allowed it without ever biting anyone. No matter how many times they pulled his tail, kissed him or tugged at his ears. My parents got him during the O.J. Simpson trial and my mom named him after the judge because of the little mustache.Last night as Mackenzie was walking home she walked in the door and started to cry again. Through her tears she said I don't know if I can walk home from grandma's again, it's too sad. You see Ito would walk her home each night and according to my dad when she would miss a day coming up there Ito would look down towards our house as if wondering if she were okay. I think it was that he was wondering where the food was. She would always leave him a trail of food just in case he was hungry.
I know she is an animal lover but I also know Eto was a Mackenzie lover. As well as all the grandchildren.
Gavin was beginning to follow in Mackenzie's footsteps of loving Eto and I think that if he realized what had happened he would be just as sad.

I know that as spring comes and we all begin to sit on the front porch it will be sad to swing and not have Eto come over lay down beneath your feet so you can rub his back. (My mom can't stand to touch an animal so that is how she pets them and he thought everyone should pet him when they were on the swing.) I'm sure my mom and dad will be sad to open the door and not have him ask for "ham". I promise you if you heard him you would have thought that is what he was asking for and they would give him a small piece each morning.

Mackenzie has planned a wonderful funeral for him to which we all have been invited. She was a little upset that I wouldn't let her call my sister and brother so they could drive their families to the funeral. (They live an hour away.) She has invited two good friends as well as Amber and Anika. I have never been to a funeral for a pet but knowing Mackenzie I'm sure it will be beautiful. I am so grateful there are children like her who love the animals. And also cats like Eto who let children love him.

oh - how sad and yet a beautiful tribute to a family-loved pet. They really do become part of the family and are truly missed when they are gone. It sounds like he has been very loved and please post something about the funeral Mackenzie gives as I am sure it'll be very memorable.

Aww ! Ito!! I am sad you are gone. We had a cat named Jeb Stuart that died a few years ago. He was with us from the time Caroline was a baby. I cried so much when he died. Tell Laura we are sorry he is gone! Hugs!

ETO will be missed and it is going to be hard to go on porch and not having ETO in my chair many times have I looked out the door and saw the swing moving I would get up too see who was in it. It was ETO who had jumped up in it and put it in motion

Delores and MacKenzie,
I am so sorry that Ito died. Grandma told me yesterday and I cried for you and Ito. I know how you feel because when Ladybug died, I sat out side with her until she passed on. At 2:30 in the morning she passed away and I got Tom up and he dug her grave and poured cement over it so that no animal wouldever get to her. We were both crying the whole time. they really do feel up a place in your heart. Especially MacKenzie.
The best memory of her and Ito was one Christmas and she thought that ito needed a present to. She put a red ribbon around his neck and I looked at her and she had tears streaming down her face. I told Grandma look at her. That is how close she was to Ito. Of course there is not a doubt in my mind that she cold do anything with any animal. I am glad too that there are kids like her that care so much for the animals.
When Ladybug died I finally understood Becky Wiggins. Every time she had one pass was so hard for her. Now I understand.
I love you all and MacKenzie,I wish I could have been there for you but my heart is full of love for you.

We will miss Ito and wish we could have come up for the funeral. I'm praying for McKenzie. Of coarse Deven thinks I know nothing and he has to hear it straight from her to believe it. My boy is quite the Mckenzie fan.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Mackenzie is so sweet and loving to the animals. She reminds me of my brother Tim. He's a Wildlife Manager getting ready to live 4 years in the Kenai Peninsula in Alaska. Maybe that'll be Mackenzie's call someday :c)

Why Clayfrog?

A long time ago (our future animal rights activist who was 3 at the time) found a family of frogs in the clay and decided that was a good name for us because we would save all the frogs.
