Young Love

I just had to take a moment to post the sweetest thing I have seen in a long time. It's no secret that I love older people. I think they have so much to teach us if we will only listen to them. This morning I came in to find a 84 year old man waiting to have his taxes prepared. He said, Let me know when it's 10:30 exactly I have to go out and get my girlfriend. He kept watching the clock caring more about that than his taxes. Finally at 10:30 he got up and went outside to wait. The phone rang so I went to answer it and was so glad because as I was talking I looked out the window and saw a car pulling into the parking lot. I watched him go out in the rain with a umbrella to the driver's side of the car and help this lady out of the car. I watched him help escort her into our office and take her coat and my favorite part was the smile on both of their faces. They were like two teenagers falling in love for the first time in their lives. She went in to have her taxes prepared by Russell and I got a chance to learn all about how they met. At the grocery store. He saw her and she was buying strawberries and he thought she was beautiful. He talked about how beautiful she was and how when she laughed it just made him want to laugh. He told me how elegant she looked reaching to get the strawberries and put them into her cart. He explained to me that their first conversation was about how to make a strawberry pie and she has since made one every month on the day they met. He said it is so nice to have a friend. The joy in his eyes was priceless. When she came out I have never seen a 84 year old man jump out of his seat so quickly. He smiled from ear to ear and when she saw him she smiled too. They sat in our reception area for about 30 minutes talking. When they were ready to leave I watched him take her folder and carry it for her to the car. They stood outside her car for a long time. Luckily the rain had stopped. They talked for a while and unfortunately I had to get back to work. I kept checking to see if they were still there because I really wanted to see if he would kiss her before he left. The door buzzed and a client came in and I looked back out and they were gone. I will never know. How fun it was to witness young love no matter the age. I wonder if next year they will file a joint return. Most likely not he said it was just nice to have the company. I told him if they do get "hitched" as he called it I wanted to be invited.

It reminds me of David O. McKay. He always held his wife's hand and he always refered to her as his bride. No matter how many years they had been married.

Why Clayfrog?

A long time ago (our future animal rights activist who was 3 at the time) found a family of frogs in the clay and decided that was a good name for us because we would save all the frogs.
