Mackenzie's Do-Over - The candidate with the most pets should win!

This morning when I woke Mackenzie up her first question to me was, "who won the election?" I told her it was Barack Obama. She looked a little sad and defeated. I told her what I thought would appeal to her. "You should have heard his speech. He has two little girls about your age and he told them that they would be getting the puppy they wanted to take to the White House." Since she is an animal lover I thought this would really appeal to her. Especially since when we were at the White House and the Secret Service told her she was standing where the President's dogs had ran around and played and her eyes lit up. Forgetting about the fact that she was being allowed to walk on White House grounds where no one else was allowed all because of a comment from a boy named John at school. (See Mackenzie's blog from our trip to Washington DC for more details. )

Her reply to my puppy comment. Well that's nothing Mom, they need a do-over. John McCain has 22 pets. A cat named Oreo (her cat's name), 13 fish, 3 birds, 2 turtles, 2 dogs, and a ferret. I have no idea if this is true or not.

In her mind we needed a "do-over" because the man with the most pets should win. Maybe you're right Mackenize. We tried to take the time to explain to her that although her candidate didn't win (for whatever reason she chose him) how exciting it was to be a part of such a monumental election. I then told her about John McCain's wonderful speech where he said it wasn't our fault it was his. What a man. She got a little teary eyed and said I just hate losing.

I'm certain she wasn't the only one shedding a tear today!

She learned that on Nickelodeon and you thought television was a waste of time.

Why Clayfrog?

A long time ago (our future animal rights activist who was 3 at the time) found a family of frogs in the clay and decided that was a good name for us because we would save all the frogs.
